Symbolic Sound | Pacarana |
Description | Pacarana is a hardware engine containing up to 4 GB RAM and 4 powerful DSP chips specially tailored for audio. The engine needs a Mac or Windows computer for its graphical user interface, Kyma. It also requires a compatible audio interface for its audio and MIDI connections, via Firewire or USB 1.1 connectors. Kyma The most powerful sound design workstation on the planet — that’s what Electronic Musician magazine called the Kyma sound design environment. Future Music called it the Holy Grail of sound design. Kyma’s effectiveness arises from its unique set of algorithms, the ease with which you can create endless combinations of those algorithms, and the unprecedented degree of real-time responsive control over the sound parameters. What is it that people love about Kyma? For some people it’s having an unbounded environment for creating sounds that have never been heard before. Others cite outstanding technical support and the super-stability and reliability of the Kyma hardware and software during live performances. Still others rave about the continuous stream of free software updates full of new features and synthesis/processing algorithms. And everyone loves the legendary Kyma sound. Every Pacarana comes with the award-winning Kyma sound design software — software that provides sound design inspiration when you need it; live performance environments that are rock-solid-stable yet with an inspiring degree of choice, control and responsiveness; plus context-sensitive help and information displays to minimize interruptions in the creative flow. All with the meticulous, uncompromising obsession with sound quality that’s become synonymous with Kyma. Kyma is easy to use — just point, click, and space: Point to the sound you want to hear, click to select it, and press the space bar to toggle between play and pause. To look inside, just double-click. That’s it. You’re well on your way to exploring the infinite sound multiverse of Kyma! |

Velocity | As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. | Aftertouch | Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel. |
